Michael Hettich has published more than a dozen books of poetry, most recently The Halo of Bees: New and Selected Poems, 1990-2022 (Press 53, 2023), which won the 2024 Brockman-Campbell Award from the North Carolina Poetry Society. Other awards include a Florida Book Award, The Tampa Review Prize in Poetry, The Hudson-Fowler Award from the University of Central Arkansas, and the Lena Shull Book Award. He has also published a book of interviews, And the Poet Said... (2024). His work has appeared in such journals as Orion, Prairie Schooner, Ploughshares, TriQuarterly, Poetry East, Alaska Quarterly Review, and Witness. His work has also appeared in such anthologies as Visiting Bob: 100 Poems for Bob Dylan (New Rivers Press, 2018), and Grabbed (Beacon Press, 2020). He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Miami and taught for many years at Miami Dade College where he was awarded an Endowed Teaching Chair. He lives in North Carolina.
