Terrapin Books is a small press specializing in poetry books. Our intention is to publish books by individual authors, an occasional anthology, and a small number of craft books.
We are a small press and plan to stay that way. We accept only a limited number of manuscripts at a time so that we can carefully edit each one and work closely with our authors. Because we accept a limited number of manuscripts during each submission period, we expect to publish each accepted manuscript within six to twelve months. We don't want you to grow old before your book enters the world.
We pay a generous royalty fee and provide each poet with 12 complimentary copies of his or her book. Our authors are able to purchase additional copies at a substantial discount.
We charge a reading fee for manuscript submissions but plan to keep it at a minimal $15. The fee enables us to cover costs such as Submittable (a big convenience for us and the poets who submit), our website fee, our bookstore, various fees for our printer and distributor, postage, paper, cartridges, etc.
Our books are 6x9, paperback, color cover, and perfect bound with printed spine.
Terrapin books are available in our own bookstore and at Amazon, B&N, and other online stores. Books may also be ordered through your favorite brick and mortar bookstore. Libraries and bookstores may order through Ingram, our distributor.
Terrapin poets and titles have earned a number of significant awards.
Terrapin Books is owned and operated by Diane Lockward.
