We are looking for poems with houses in them. Think of the house as a physical structure, and then think of the myriad associations, memories, and experiences attached to the house.
Think of different kinds of houses, e.g., split level, bi-level, two-story, colonial, ranch, apartment, high rise, condo, townhouse, row house, shelter, group home, prison cell, nursing home, tenement, tent, dollhouse, outhouse, schoolhouse
Possible topics might include: leaving home, losing the house / home, homesickness / the longing for home, the body as house, Grandma’s house, storm damage to the house, first home / house, the house you wish you lived in, home away from home, Little House on the Prairie, running away from home, the house on fire
All submissions must go via Submittable. The required fee of $3 will help defray expenses.
Your submission may include a maximum of 3 poems.
In the cover letter, include a third-person, professional bio, 50-75 words.
Unpublished or previously published poems are both fine. If previously published, please provide the name of the journal or book and press right below the poem.
Honorarium: Each contributor to the book will receive one complimentary copy of the anthology. Discounted author’s copies will be available.
We can accept submissions from outside the US but will not be able to mail the honorarium book.
